The Swiss Indoors has little in common with snowflakes. Nonetheless, this is no reason not to invite the leader of the Swiss alpine ski team to Basel’s «tennis Bayreuth». Beat Feuz (photo), world downhill champion last year in St. Moritz and one of the three best downhill racers on the planet, is a regular at St. Jakob tennis events. The resident of Schangnau, canton Bern, is also regarded as a decent interclub player. Just in terms of physical condition, the «Bolt of Lightning» Feuz fulfils requirements well for work on the court. At his second domicile in Innsbruck, he has surprised a fair few Habsburgers in internal tournaments. People in Austria respect Feuz, who would have won last winter’s race in Kitzbühel had he not lifted off in the second half of the run. In this Olympic season, Feuz will be concentrating on Downhill and Super-G. One of the racer’s declared targets for the season are the Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. We wish our «alpine Federer» bonne chance!
