ATP Tour 500 – EUR 2.584 million – 24 October to 1 November 2026
Yesterday’s ‘Next
Gen’ are the stars of today
Swiss Indoors Basel, which celebrates its 55th
edition from 24 October to 1 November 2026, is staying true to form again
this year and going all-in on the latest wave of Next Gen superstars. The Next
Gen of just a few years ago are now among the top stars on the tour. With Félix
Auger-Aliassime, Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, João Fonseca, Jiri Lehecka and
Arthur Fils, Swiss Indoors Basel can announce the first high-profile names
confirmed for this year’s line-up.
Félix
Auger-Aliassime, Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz – all in top 10
The sextet is currently led by Félix
Auger-Aliassime (Canada, ATP 4). The two-time Swiss Indoors champion (2022, 2023)
has established himself among the world’s elite thanks to his outstanding
consistency at the highest level: the quarter-finals in Monte Carlo and at the
French Open in Paris, the semi-finals in Dubai, the final in Rotterdam and the
title in Montpellier. One of the big crowd favourites is Ben
Shelton (USA, ATP 5), winner of the ATP 500 tournament in Munich. His explosive style of play
and charismatic personality have made him one of the most popular players on
the tour. In Taylor Fritz (USA, ATP 9), another top-10 player has been
confirmed for Basel. The 2024 US Open finalist embodies the renaissance of
American men’s tennis and has been one of the tour’s leading players for years.
João Fonseca – the jewel
19-year-old
rising star João Fonseca (Brazil, ATP
25) is rewriting the tennis script. He has a spellbinding aura and hits the
ball with galactic force. Fonseca enchanted the tennis world at the French Open
with a dramatic victory over Novak Djokovic, coming from two sets down in an
epic five-hour match. There was scarcely a dry eye in the stadium. Casper Ruud,
the three-time French Open finalist (2022, 2023 and
2025), also fell to João Fonseca. Fonseca has thereby impressively confirmed
his status as one of the biggest talents in world tennis. Swiss tennis fans can
look forward to the return of last year’s winner.
Jiri Lehecka –
the silent climber
Jiri Lehecka (Czech
Republic, ATP 12) is known as an explosive player who is also world
class in doubles. The quiet rising star from Prague has many Czechs dreaming of
a new Ivan Lendl. Reserved and modest away from the court, Lehecka displays
fierce determination on it with a relentlessly aggressive brand of tennis.
Arthur Fils – a promising
contender for big titles
The
French powerhouse Arthur Fils (France,
ATP 21), winner of the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona, has superstar
potential. Fils is considered one of the top contenders for the next big
breakthrough in international tennis. He, too, represents a generation that is
no longer waiting for its chance but actively challenging the world’s best.
Stan Wawrinka’s farewell
As
previously announced, Basel will pay tribute to Stan Wawrinka’s career on Super
Monday, 26 October 2026. He will play his first-round match the following day,
on Tuesday, 27 October 2026.
