Tennis Made in Switzerland

22. Okt 2019

Three matches featuring Swiss players on Wednesday. With Roger Federer (ATP 3), Stan Wawrinka (ATP 17) and Henri Laaksonen (ATP 105) in action, the matches promise world-class tennis.

The excitement remains high on the third day of play in the main draw – not least due to the formidable showing of Switzerland’s star players.

Stan the Man opens his campaign
Just three days after his loss against Scotsman Andy Murray in the final at the European Open in Antwerp, Belgium, Stan Wawrinka (ATP 17) will take to Center Court at the Swiss Indoors in Basel at 5 pm on Wednesday. His opponent in the first round will be the 33-year-old Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas (ATP 45).

Federer takes on Albot
Roger Federer will play on Center Court at 7 pm on Wednesday, 23 October against Radu Albot (ATP 49). In his first-round match, the 29-year-old Moldovan posted a three-set win over Dusan Lajovic (ATP 33) with a scoreline of 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. We’re looking forward to the second match between the two. Federer won their first meeting last spring in Miami.

Laaksonen makes his move
We will wrap up tomorrow’s play at the Swiss Indoors with a match featuring Henri Laaksonen (ATP 105). The 27-year-old Swiss player born in Finland had a strong, straight-sets victory (6-2, 7-5) in the first round over the eighth-seeded Frenchman Benoit Paire. On Wednesday he will meet Jan-Lennard Struff (ATP 41) from Germany.
