Watch out for Hurkacz

With Pole Hubert Hurkacz’ (ATP 11) victory at last week's 1000 tournament in Shanghai, attention will be on another top player at the star-studded Swiss Indoors Basel, which begins with an extremely strong qualification round next Saturday. No fewer than 17 players from the top 32 in the world will feature in the main tournament, who are bound to be the focus of attention. These are:

Carlos Alcaraz (ATP 2), Holger Rune (ATP 6), Casper Ruud (ATP 8), Taylor Fritz (ATP 10), Hubert Hurkacz (ATP 11), Alex de Minaur (ATP 13), Félix Auger-Aliassime (ATP 17), Nicolas Jarry (ATP 21 ), Sebastian Korda (ATP 23), Adrian Mannarino (ATP 24), Tallon Griekspoor (ATP 25), Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (ATP 26), Jan-Lennard Struff (ATP 27), Sebastian Baez (ATP 28), Ugo Humbert ( ATP 29), Tomas Martin Etcheverry (ATP 31) and Christopher Eubanks (ATP 32).

Wildcards for the main draw

The three wildcards for the main draw were awarded to the two Swiss players Stan Wawrinka (ATP 46) and Dominic Stricker (ATP 90), as well as to the title holder Félix Auger-Aliassime (ATP 17). The latter had to rely on a wildcard because he only enrolled after the registration deadline.

In addition to the opening match of Carlos Alcaraz, the opening ceremony will kick things off at this year’s event. Performing a medley, the choir of Theater Basel, accompanied by the Christoph Walter Orchestra, will present an exhilarating concert show with interpretations and world hits by Montserrat Caballe, Paul Anka, Amy Macdonald, ABBA and Alvaro Soler, who all graced Swiss Indoors with their presence in past years.
