Swiss Indoors Basel presents five shooting stars

ATP tour 500 – EUR 2.523 million – 18 to 26 October 2025

Following a spectacular ESC, Basel and St. Jakobshalle will once again play host to various national and international events this autumn. From 18 to 26 October 2025, world-class tennis stars are set to go head to head at Swiss Indoors Basel for the 54th time. They will be competing for the prestigious title, valuable world ranking points and even more prize money than last year. With four months to go before the start of the tournament, the first major names can now be revealed. Following the breakthrough of the Next Gen stars last year, Swiss Indoors is delighted to kick off its player announcements with five exciting new talents on the world tennis stage.

Holger Rune (Denmark, ATP 8)
22 years old. Holger Rune continues to make headlines. The exceptional young talent won this year’s tournament in Barcelona, beating Carlos Alcaraz in the final. With his explosive baseline play, tactical maturity and indomitable will to win, Rune has quickly established himself among the world’s elite.

Ben Shelton (USA, ATP 10)
22 years old. The American is in the top ten for the first time in his career. The left-handed player made it to the final in Basel last year and played in the semis at the 2024 US Open and the 2025 Australian Open. A fan favourite, Shelton wows the crowds with his powerful playing style.

Arthur Fils (France, ATP 16)
21 years old. France’s great hope is Arthur Fils, who lost to Ben Shelton in the semi-finals at the Swiss Indoors last year. Fils has quickly made a name for himself with his explosive playing style and strong physique. According to the experts, he has a bright future ahead of him.

Jakub Menšík (Czech Republic, ATP 17)
19 years old. Having won his first major honours with victory in the 2025 Miami Open final against Novak Djokovic, Jakub Menšík is set to add a fresh dimension to Switzerland’s most prestigious tennis event. Menšík is one of the hottest prospects on the ATP Tour and a standout representative of the new generation of men’s tennis.

João Fonseca (Brazil, ATP 56)
18 years old. Fonseca’s potential is already being compared with that of former world No. 1 Gustavo Kuerten. In professional circles, the young South American is even being touted as a once-in-a-century talent. He won his first ATP Tour title in Buenos Aires in February this year.

Henry Bernet on the rise
118 years old. Henry Bernet, the No. 1 in the junior world ranking and winner of the Australian Open junior title, is well on his way to joining the phalanx of Next Gen superstars. It is only a matter of time before he makes the breakthrough. The great Swiss hope and current (temporary) ATP 490 is one of the contenders for a wildcard for the main tournament of this year’s Swiss Indoors.

Further player announcements will follow after Wimbledon.
