Basel 2025 at the heart of the action
2025: a year that is packing quite a punch for Basel. The city has been turned upside down. Alongside FC Basel doing the double, the calendar has been dominated by events such as the FEI World Cup Finals for equestrian sports, Art Basel, Basel Tattoo, the UEFA Women’s EURO and the Eurovision Song Contest. Swiss Indoors Basel marks a barnstorming conclusion to the event calendar, with the opening ceremony taking the opportunity to celebrate this historic year of major sporting and musical occasions. 

An homage to Basel on Super Monday
In addition to the first round of world-class tennis matches, this year’s Super Monday on Monday, 20 October 2025, is dedicated to paying homage to the city of Basel and the heroes and protagonists of the major events at the St. Jakobshalle, which will once again play host to all the Swiss Indoors Center Court action. The festivities will start at 6 pm, anchored by the song ‘Wasted Love’, sung live by JJ, who returns to Basel after his triumph at the Eurovision Song Contest earlier this year. Adding to the musical spectacle will be Basel singer-songwriter ZIAN, who will appear live to sing his greatest hits. The star thrilled 26,000 visitors at the closing ceremony of the ‘Weltklasse Zürich’ Diamond League meet just over three weeks ago. The eyes of Europe looked to Basel in July, with the women of EURO 2025 winning the hearts of spectators as England were ultimately crowned the winners. Memories of the championship will be rekindled in style at the opening ceremony with a mix of video recordings and live moments. 

Laudatory speeches
Dr Conradin Cramer, President of the Government of Basel-Stadt, and Roger Brennwald, founder and president of Swiss Indoors Basel, will give speeches in praise of the event.

Orchestra and project direction
The Christoph Walter Orchestra and director Erik Julliard, both of whom have been part of the close-knit Swiss Indoors team for many years, are jointly responsible for the show.
