Swiss Indoors Basel quarter-finals – Friday set for high drama

23. Okt 2025

Swiss Indoors Basel 2025 is approaching the decisive phase. Four quarter-finals are scheduled for Friday – with defending champion Felix Auger-Aliassime (ATP 12), rising star João Fonseca (ATP 46) and top favourite Casper Ruud (ATP 11) all in the mix.

Felix Auger-Aliassimewill open the quarter-finals against Spain’s Jaume Munar (ATP 42) at 2:00 p.m. The Canadian has impressed so far with his solid serve and mental toughness – and is aiming to win his third title in Basel. Munar has shown real fighting spirit this week and is hoping for his first win over the former Basel champion.

In the second quarter-final, João Fonseca (ATP 46) will face Denis Shapovalov (ATP 23). The 19-year-old Brazilian has already caused a stir in Basel and hopes to continue his impressive tournament run. Shapovalov, once himself a rising ‘Next Gen’ star, has been in strong form, setting up a duel that promises youthful power and an attacking style of play.

In the evening, in-form Frenchman Ugo Humbert (ATP 24) will face the American Reilly Opelka (ATP 62). Humbert, known for his versatile and precise game, meets the big-serving Opelka – an exciting contrast between two opposing playing styles.

The quarter-final day concludes with a showdown between two top-20 players: Casper Ruud (ATP 11) against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (ATP 18). Both have delivered strong performances so far and are among the most in-form players of the tournament.

With four top-class encounters, the stage is set for a thrilling quarter-final Friday at St. Jakobshalle.
