Roberto Bautista Agut puts the next generation to the test

The semifinal pairings are now set following the thrilling quarterfinal clashes on Basel’s Center Court.

It’s time to take a closer look at the four most successful players at this year’s Swiss Indoors Basel.

22-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime (ATP 9) was the first to qualify for the semifinals with his eleventh win in a row. After taking the titles in Florence and Antwerp, he’s now on the hunt for his next crown.

Two titans of the next generation will square off in the semis, courtesy of the strong performance of shooting star Carlos Alcaraz (ATP 1). Just 19 years of age, this Spaniard offered an impressive display of his exceptional talent in the first two rounds. Now, he’s well on the way to winning his seventh title on the ATP tour.

In the evening, Holger Rune (ATP 25) similarly managed to hold his ground in the quarterfinals – thus completing our trio of next-generation talent. The 19-year-old from Denmark has already won two ATP 250 tournaments this year and is also one of the favourites for the ATP Next Gen finals in Milan in November.

There’s just one veteran remaining of the 32 players in the main draw, but he’s sure to put these young stars through their paces. The 34-year-old Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut (ATP 22) showed off his intelligent gameplay in the initial rounds, seeing off the two Grand Slam champions Andy Murray (ATP 49) and Stan Wawrinka (protected ranking) on his journey to the semifinal.

We’re looking forward to two top-class semifinals – and we can’t wait to find out who’ll be lifting the coveted trophy on Sunday!
